After many years of trying different fixings for plasterboard i have come to the conclusion that these Fischer plastic winged ones are by far the best.
I have used them on many projects and they work brilliantly. For putting up shelves, curtain rails, anything really. They are available from most DIY or hardware stores.
just mark wall, use correct size drill which corresponds to plug then just push in. (correct drill and screw diameters are shown on the packets).
