Simon your West Hull Handyman was glad of a day inside on Thursday, the day storm Doris hit he had a nice warm inside job doing a spot of decorating for a customer in Hessle. Customer had asked if we could wallpaper chimney breast and one wall of her main bedroom. Customer had already chosen paper so we advised her after measuring that she would need 3-4 rolls of paper. This as it turned out was spot on, Simon managed to do the job with 3 rolls so customer was happy to return one roll and get some money back. A good tip for wallpapering is that when you work out how many rolls you need you will get 3 full lengths from a roll even with patterned papers with high ceiling rooms.
The main thing to remember when wallpapering is start with a straight vertical line. To do this you will need a plumb bob. (a piece of string with a weight of some sort attached). hang it down and mark wall with a pencil.
Another good tip is after pasting length of paper, fold over on its self and leave for at least 10 minutes to soak in before hanging, this will cut don on the number of air bubbles and creases.

Paste table
Bucket with paste
Bucket with warm soapy water
plenty of clean cloths and tea towels
A good pair of sharp scissors.
